Terminology

For efficiency of process of a sea cargo transportation to everyone won't prevent to know what details of process exist and to study terminology, the list of necessary documents, procedure of processing of freights in each port and a lot of things another. So, it is possible to start:

    Bill of Lading, B/L (consignment) is the main sea document and represents the special consignment note on the transported freight. Its all data (weight and volume of freight), number of the container, information on the shipper and his recipient are specified in it. The sea carrier which exclusively have the corresponding license NVOCC is engaged in issue of this kind of the document.
    Shipper-is the sender according to the consignment or the supplier or the shipper;
    Consignee – so call the consignee;
    Notify party – the notified party about delivery of freight. Most often this party consider the forwarding agent, the recipient or the representative who to the port was sent by the recipient;
    Freight (freight), Loading and Discharging – so, respectively, call cargo delivery, their loading and unloading;
    Feeder (feeder) – represents the line of the local message used for a cargo transportation in containers or any other bulky goods on short distances or on which containers are delivered from the port of loading to the ocean vessel. If the special contract for shipping for distances more distant is formed, then local feeding transportation already include in a rate of a freight and in addition it isn't necessary to pay for it;
    NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) – is the sea carrier which is carrying out issue of the consignment on a cargo transportation by those courts which don't belong to it and aren't operated by him. At the same time he maintains the relations with operators, at the moment only in China and America there is a legislative definition of its status. Generally, activity of NVOCC consists in transportation "from a door to a door" for which the total price is offered to them. For this reason all responsibility for quality of transportation lays down on a sea carrier by which such consignment note is exposed as intermodal;
    TEU (Twentyfoot Equivalent Unit) is the unit of measure of freights equal on capacity to one 20-foot container. That is, the container on 40 foots equals 2 TEU.

Conditions of transportation of freights

CY (Container Yard, the container terminal) provides one of two options:

1. Here all containers with freight before their subsequent sending or after it are stored;

2. A condition of transportation of freight at its arrival or departure. The cost of transportation includes the cost of services in sending to a storage place (a freight, loading and unloading from the carrier vessel, placement in CY), but services of reception and departure on CY don't enter here;

    DOOR (freight is delivered completely doors), in that case all obligations for the organization of transportation are assumed by the forwarding agent; sending from the sender's warehouse to the recipient's warehouse is included in the price of services;
